Socio-pragmatical analysis of IS actability evaluation heuristics
نویسنده
چکیده
Information Systems Actability Theory is a theory based on language action theories (e.g. Searle and Habermas) and other social action theories (e.g. Weber and Schutz). In ISAT, different actors’ work with (computerised) information systems is considered to be action directed towards humans. Phenomena related to human action and communication between humans are set in focus. This paper proposes a development and clarification of sociopragmatic aspects of ISAT, based on theories of Weber and Grice.

Nine Principles for Actable Systems Design
Heuristic evaluation relies fundamentally on predefined criteria to direct attention to important aspects of the inspected phenomenon, such as Jacob Nielsen’s ten usability heuristics. In this paper we present nine complementary principles explicitly focused on evaluation of IT-systems as tools for business action and communication. The principles are derived from the concept of actability, whi...

To evaluate the usage quality of information systems, a set of principles (heuristics, criteria) to direct attention towards important issues may be useful. Several lists of criteria focusing on usability and user interface design and its relation to user and task characteristics have been proposed. This paper presents a set of nine complementary principles explicitly focused on evaluation of I...
متن کاملPragmatic Qualities of Information Systems – Actability Criteria for Design and Evaluation
Information systems actability theory builds on a communicative action perspective on IS. Information systems are seen as instruments for technology mediated work communication. Human actors are communicating (i.e. sending and/or receiving messages) through an information system. Information systems actability emphasises pragmatic dimensions of information systems. The paper presents 18 actabil...
متن کاملActability Evalu tion: An Exploratory Study
In this chapter, we discuss an evaluation of a computerized information system in an elderly care unit. The evaluation is based on the concept of actability, which is a combination of theories from Human-Computer Interaction and the Language Action Perspective. The reason for uniting different theories is to obtain a more holistic evaluation model. The findings show that the evaluated system ha...
